What is it?

A tank of water is filled with 6-12 inches of water and salt, making the water so dense that your body is unable to sink and floats on the water. This allows the body to experience sensory deprivation and make the muscles fully relax, an experience that is often compared to experiencing zero gravity.

The tank can be made dark or kept well-lit with options for music or silence, customizing the experience to your preferences. However, it is recommended to keep your session dark and quiet in order to experience the benefits of the Float Tank to the fullest extent.

How does it work?

It is recommended you float in the tank without any clothing; however, if you wish to remain covered, a light and clean bathing suit is recommended.

When entering the room, the staff member will ask you to shower before you enter the tank, as well as show you how to operate various parts such as the cover, the intercom, the music, etc. This will allow you to customize your experience to your comfort level.

The density of the salt water allows your body to float effortlessly, and the temperature of the water is matched closely with the average body temperature in order to diminish any separation between the body and the solution of salt water you will be floating in. This encourages the body to experience sensory deprivation so the mind can be induced into a deeper state of relaxation.

How is the tank cleaned?

The tank water is filtered thoroughly in between every session and all surfaces are wiped down. The salt has natural antibacterial properties as well, killing bacteria in the water even during the sessions. Water goes through UV light between treatments. Hydrogen Peroxide is added daily.

What if I get claustrophobic in the tank?

It’s not uncommon to have a fear of tight spaces, but the benefit of floating is that it tends to relieve anxiety rather than increase it. First time floaters often overcome any fears, concerns, or other anxieties after the first 5-15 minutes of the session as you grow accustomed to the unique environment and experience.

Can I be menstruating and float?

No, we do ask that you reschedule your visit if you are on your menstrual cycle. If you have any other questions, feel free to text or call (540) 421-1876, or email at contactus.rmt@gmail.com!
